Another one bites the dust
:: 12.31.2007 @ 12:08 ::
Well, that's another year in the barrel. I can say it was my busiest year to date, career wise anyway. Got CATz out, PETz, changed jobs and finished off Sim City Societies and now I'm knee-deep in Tetris... I should do my yearly tally, actually.

Top 5 Games of 2007 (in no particular order):
1. Zack & Wiki Quest for Barbaro's Treasure (Wii)
2. Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)
3. Atelier Iris 3 Grand Phantasm (PS2)
4. Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass (DS)
5. Izuna Legend of the Unemployed Ninja (DS)

Looking forward to: The Dark Knight!
Still looking forward to: No More Heroes (FEBRUARY! Pre-order GET!)
Last thing purchased: New duvet cover and sheets
Last game played: Lunar Knights
Last movie seen: The Golden Compass (again)
Favourite movie: Hot Fuzz and Transformers, I really can't decide...
Favourite TV show: The Batman
Craziest thing of the year: crap from the Middle East
Person I wanted to punch out on New Year's Eve: Pauline Marois
Person I wanted to hug on New Year's Eve: *wink* ;D
Thing I forgot to do this year: Knit that scarf
Thing I haven't done, yet again: Find a home
Rememberance: No one in the family, really. We're running out... But for famous people, Oscar Peterson. May you jazz up those heavens!

Resolution: I predict 2008 will rock, and therefore I will resolve to make it rock.

I supported Canadian athletes by getting myself the adorable Olympic Sasquatch. I love this thing! It's so cuddly~!

So all day today my computer was secretly putting the clock back an hour every time. See, yesterday was supposed to be the day we get our extra hour of sleep but the great genius George W. Bush decided they would save energy by moving it a week later and the great geniuses that run my country which is a little bit more NORTHERN decided to follow, forgetting how dark it gets now. So there I was waiting for 6pm so I can leave work 'cause I finished everything and had nothing else to do, when I look at my cellphone and see it's almost 7pm! ARGH! Fucking clocks!

On another note, where did all these games come from!? And the guy at EB gave me two Dewy plushies even though I didn't pre-order it. Said they had too many and there's no more room in the back. They're pretty big! That game is pretty cute. But Zack & Wiki is more awesome. I had Phantom Hourglass for a while now, but I didn't want to finish it because it was so wonderful. I did finally decided to beat it... last night, 2:30 AM! Very epic! I have to say it's probably the most epic handheld adventure game for a while. I'm also half-way through ZX Advent. And... Capcom DUBBED it with terrible ENGLISH VOICES. Well, Grey's voice isn't so bad. I believe it's Cam Clark (or listed under one of his many names...). He's in every video game so I wouldn't be surprised. I'd prefer voices like Zack & Wiki! Wik-WIKIII! Wik? Wiki!!!

It's really not as annoying as you'd think.

Halloween contest on wednesday~ I wore it to my friend's halloween party on Saturday. Unfortunately NONE of my pictures came out right 'cause my camera is retarded like that. My mom took this, as you can see. She doesn't know how to frame a picture properly.

Excuse the pink sweater...I was trying to leave. But I made pretty awesome gauntlets, had some blue bombs which I filled with candy, and lined my awesome belt (it has pockets!) with candy rupees! I have elf ears too but they just fall off. My hat seems to stick my ears out anyway.

Anshin~ anshin~!

Well. I just watched Tekkon Kinkreet. I think its been over 5 years since I first saw a trailer or something? (I think I still have it too). Anyway... Studio4c films = crack. I think psychologists would love to speak to those guys. But it wasn't bad!

Also I don't really understand the big deal behind this PS3 remote play on the PSP... Why would I spend 700$ to play fancy games from a fancy machine where the whole point of it was 'cause it looks good on your super expensive plasma JUST so I could use my PSP to turn it on or play it on the bus on a smaller screen with no tilt control and minus two buttons (and no dual-sticks either really). Just...doesn't make any sense to me... I guess it would be ok for Disgaea and such, or to watch movies (which you can already do on the PSP anyway) or some other downloaded crap.

WiiZapper is also a monstrosity... The original prototype was better. Anyway, it's useless since the wiimote is a pointing thingy. You don't need an attachment!

And...Resident Evil: Extinction is out. Emphasis on the STINK. Can someone please make a proper Resident Evil film? You know, with Wesker, proper Umbrella stuff, Chris and Jill, Leon and Claire(and I mean properly taken care off) etc? Hell, even throw in Hunk. Just keep the president's daughter out of it, give us lots of zombies, and keep Paul W.S. Anderson FAAAAAAAAAR away. Thank you. Maybe get Edgar Wright on it. I mean it's Mad Max takes a trip to Alaska with Alice in Zombieland via ruined Las Vegas on the sucky train! (Though something like that could be good if it were done properly, mind... But in this case: No).

My compooter needs a new fan!

Birfday!

This morning I turned 27! Of course, since I'm not a rockstar, my chances of making it to 28 are very high! But wasn't there some crazy Number 27 movie out this year? I heard it was pretty bad and yet the coincidence...! Oh well, I only really liked Jim Carrey in Cable Guy.

(Apparently it was number 23. Shows what I know. I didn't watch the film...)

My parents got me this lovely autumn bouquet for my birthday. (Too bad the bird's haven't opened yet). I also got myself Phantom Dust for Xbox (finally founnd it in ye olde used bin for 9 bucks), Drawn to Life (which is sweet and childish and therefor right up my alley 'cause I'm childish), a portable harddrive of 160gigs 'cause my desktop PC sounds like its going to explode one day, two Mushishi manga version française, and mom got me grey arm socks (aka. arm gauntlets, 'cause I get cold when I work but not cold enough for a sweater)!

My Drawn to Life character. I need to redraw my first one 'cause it was bloody terrible... Now I'm more used to the drawing part, I just use the D-pad and the A-button. It's like Etch-a-sketch!

And THIS creature Yannick showed me is fucking alien! It looks like something I'd shoot without hesitation in Metroid...

Well, gee, I apparently missed August... Been so busy settling into the new job at EA Mobile, filling forms, and now playing Metroid Prime 3 Corruption (HELL YA!) that I just didn't turn on the laptop once. But look, I've managed to put up the old posts! Well, some announcements!

My new baby cousin, Abigail, was born September 7th! Yay for another September girl! She's too cute. And awesome! A day old and she was already lifting her head on her own. I say she'll be crawling next week and walking in a month.

I got an early birthday present in the mail today. The soundtrack for Rockman ZX Advent! Came with the mousepad too, though I don't use mousepads... The game should be out next month I think. I can't wait to play it. There's an unlockable 8-bit NES version of the game too :D

Well, I'm listening to the Scarifyers with Nicholas Courtney (Brigadier!) playing a 70-something inspector in the 1930s. I love Courtney's voice. So suave and un-phased. He's just too awesome for words. I'm really hoping he'll appear opposite the 10th soon in Doctor Who... Missed the 9th! At least the 10th will be around for a long while too.

By the way, Prime 3 is so much awesome. So awesome I couldn't hold the Wiimote last time. I mean they start you off with the most intense tutorial level ever! You gotta get these generators online, while Space Pirates are trying to blast you into nothingness by throwing a giant meteor or something into the planet you're on. On TOP of that, who should fly in but Meta Ridley himself! And not only does he fly by but he pops in and you have fight him while falling 1000+ meters down a hole! It's pretty movie epic. I'm currently on the first planet about to get to the Leviathan Seed there. Got the grapple arm and swing, and my ice missiles and my ship upgraded. I say, there's nothing more enjoyable than bombing a bunch of annoying Space Pirates with your ship via remote control!

July 2007

What's up, beaches!?
:: 07.28.2007 @ 22:12 ::
A week in the sun? Oui merci~! Just got back from beautiful Ogunquit, Maine. Also stopped off in Hampton Beach just to see if it changed much. I think the last time I was there I was ten... It really hasn't changed, actually. Just got older. The quiet Ryes Beach side got some nice, new developments. And Jack's seafood restaurent is still there! But anyway, back to Maine. We had a nice hotel, brand new, 5 minutes walk to Footbridge Beach...

There's the bridge. Apparently there's a lot of clams in the area which you are not allowed to disturb or you will be FINED! The dunes are off limits and fenced off too because they're fragile and an important part of the area's ecosystem. It's nice to see them protected since there were some developments towards the Wells' side of the area and a few old hotels by the main beach part. It rained the day we arrived and was a little chilly.

But that didn't stop us from testing the waters! It was pretty cold but not TOO cold. Well, ok, on a rainy day, the water was a little numbing...

The main part of Ogunquit beach is really big at low tide. The whole place is really a giant sand bar and you can pretty much walk out in the middle there. Only problem is for some reason there's a jet of ice cold water running by there where the surfers surf all day. The rest is quite tolerable and refreshing on a super hot sunny day. The tide pools also serve as "baby pools" which is good to keep the little ones out of the big ocean and away from my boogeyboarding! Caught some nice waves too.

A little bit further down the road is a quaint little place called Perkin's Cove. We had our last meal there. LOBSTAH! Well, mom had the lobster, I chose a lobster sauté which was basically the same only minus the shell. I got that because I didn't want to struggle with my meal. Was sunbaked anyway so I don't think I could have struggled with my meal! Perkin's Cove is also the beginning of a hiking trail that follows the coast called the Marginal Way. I climbed a bunch of slanted rocks/cliffs that dropped into the sea and made my dad nervous. Hey, I know what I'm doing! I even got mom to follow me out on one :D

Back to the beach!

The most dad went into the water...

The most you'll ever see of me in my swimsuit!

This hotel was near ours. The Bourne's Motel: Leave your identity here...

Bye bye Ogunquit... Bye bye beach... T___T

This would be Classics Jetfire. Once upon a time, there was a Valkyrie mech from the Macross series that becames the toy for the old Jetfire (Skyfire). Singing wasn't included though, thank god. Now he has his own version, complete with helmet and a zillion guns, ready to kick some skidplates.

Even Gerwalk works, though his knees in this mode don't actually function the right way.

Robot mode sans helmet and heavy artillery or armor. Though the wings in robot-mode fold to resemble a butterfly... Now I've left them folded down to match the Valkyrie's more. Looks better like that too.

Action!

The Jetfire/Skyfire family!

Hi-ho! Hi-ho! It's off the Maine I go!
:: 07.21.2007 @ 00:20 ::
Well, its absolutely official. I will be leaving Gameloft after 4 years and 2 months for a fresh, new environment. That's right! I'm pretty excited. As of August 6th, I will be at EA Mobile, right smack in the middle of downtown in the prestigious Place Ville-Marie building (where I will one day put the Bat symbol on that spotlight). Also started to seriously look for my home, and I've found a few interesting ones! So here goes nothing.

I almost stepped on this little guy on my way to lunch. And then when I looked around, I saw HUNDREDS of snails by the train tracks, slugging along in the mud and hanging off bushes. They were really quite fascinating to watch.

Monday, bright and early, I'll be off to Maine for a week of beaches and lobster. Apparently the hotel has free internets, so I think I'll bring this laptop along and try to update regularly! BEACHES!

To punish and enslave...

Picked up two LOVELY transformers today. My first Decepticon too! Barricade (gorgeous Mustang) and the awesome classics Bumblebee (that isn't a Volkswagen Beetle, looks like a Subaru but is apparently a Peugeot). End of the month should be the new Camaro Bumblebee.

I'm still looking for titanium Jetfire... Poo.

"Are you username Ladiesman217!?!?"

Bee-otch! :o

All that Jazz!
:: 07.08.2007 @ 13:58 ::
It's everyone's favourite rabbit-eared transformer! Though I'll always love Bumblebee, his 70s Camaro toy was kind of lame... I'll wait for the 08 one to come out. Why it's not out now while the movie is smoking away the box office, I'll never know. But Hasbro works in mysterious ways... Like painting the windows blue on the 70s Camaro, while Takara leaves them clear. You'd also think the plug-into-mp3-player-dancing-Transformer would be Jazz and not Bumble... Weird choice eh?

ANYWAY the movie is the best. I'm the happiest 80s kid~ I'd like to go see it again, actually but I'm busy this weekend with a zillion BBQs...

Die Hard 4 was also awesome. It's an action-packed week!

:: 06.12.2007 @ 00:32 ::
Look what finally came in the mail! It's pretty good, too. Though I feel they skimped out on the graphics despite the fact the other two were charmingly gorgeous. (Sprites don't even have shadow circles! And I sometimes can't see the pathways because of the lack of shadows). It's also kind of easy. Easier than Atelier Iris 2. But only because when you have that tactical advantage, you're seriously super powered, especially in Burst Mode. Though there are the many annoying bosses that have healing minions... Anyway, you don't feel the tedious RPG at all since it's just a barrage of quests from fetching/making items, hunting special monsters, dealing with boss-types, and story missions. In fact, I wish it had a clock that would appear on the menu or something 'cause I find myself playing and playing and suddenly 5 hours have gone by...

Wins for the most beautiful game ever. Most beautiful game that actually works too! It does not disappoint at all... Though could use a better equip system and a better inventory system, but that's about it.

Went to see Pirates 3 yesterday. I think it's the closest I'll get to having someone realize my dream of returning the old serial format of the early movie days... I hope Batman does that too. You know, like watching a TV series only it comes out once a year and is super extravagant. It's not sequels, just story continuations, since it feels like something you'd turn on the TV and watch one rainy day.

Next up, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD! (New Hampshire motto?). Then Transformers. There's also the Golden Compass...that looks fantastic. And hey, Daniel Craig's in it, can't go wrong there ;D

Wild Orchids
:: 05.17.2007 @ 23:18 ::
Well... blink and over a month goes by. Not that it went by quickly... I was deeply submerged in Catz. It's being well received too which is making me happy 'cause it really is cute. At least, I tried as well and humanly possible to make it cute! Actually it's been noted as being too cute for its own good. I think its the first game I've done in my almost 4 years at Gameloft that I'm actually pleased with, even though a month ago I was cursing its never-ending saga...

Oh yea. Drawn To Life is awesome. I can't wait for this game to come out. I think I'll be spending my whole time drawing new heroes though, rather than playing the game. Made a Batman at lunchtime at work :D The possibilities are endless!

And on the subject of the DSlite... I got my pink one! It's gorgeous. In fact the guy at EB Games was drooling over it.

More awesome: TRANFORMERS! Come on! That movie needs to be released now... Yea some of the designs are questionable, yada yada yada...who cares! TRANSFORMERS! And lots of EXPLOSIONS! I'm so gonna be there opening day. Of course The Dark Knight is what I'm going psychotic over. It's gonna be goooood...

By the way, I'm in love with Orchids. I picked this beauty at Costco. It had two unopened buds at the end, and now it's in full bloom!

Been sick for a while, now. My cold has finally gone but I get dizzy when I turn my head too fast, or when I look up from looking down. My mom thinks it could be labyrinthitis or that I'm anemic again, since I'm also very lethargic and pale. Anyway, fed me some cream of wheat, started taking vitamins, seeing the doctor monday afternoon, maybe even get me an appointment with my dad's neurologist for help with my migraines.

Went shopping today. Picked up the game with probably the greatest title ever, Izuna the Unemployed Ninja. Also found the fist series of The Last Detective with (♥) Peter Davison. He'll always be my favourite Doctor. (I like them all, but, I don't know... I just like his Doctor more). It's REALLY good. Something I'd expect Showcase to start showing, if they haven't already. I wonder... I think they still air Cracker on that channel. Seems they started showing Life on Mars, though. Maybe I'll start watching more TV. Anyway, I'll pick up the rest of the series off Amazon later.

Oh Amazon.ca... The bane of my credit card. Saw Twitch City on there. Gotta pick that up. Already got my prized possession, the DVD to Hard Core Logo.

Photo of the week. Snowy two-way street Westmount. It's still snowing, by the way.

I've finally come to a design I like. Now I just have to complete the giant archive of past posts, and get a working portfolio up. Right now, it links to the folder dump. As my current project is winding down, I'll have more time to work on this properly.

Also just got back from Baie Saint-Paul and snowboarding at Le Massif!

And in other news, I'm finally registered for that Illustrator course I've been wanting to take. Huzzah! I hope to finally, properly, learn that program and the wonders of TRUE vector art making. Wish I had the program though... I seem to have misplaced that catalogue my dad got that gives super discounts on software because he's a teacher. The Photoshop CS2 came with Illustrator and a bunch of other things for an awesome price of like $500...
